Advancing Healthcare Innovation in Africa (AHIA) Conference 2019 for Scientists (Fully-funded to Johannesburg)

Emory University is now accepting applications from African healthcare innovators for the 2019 Advancing Healthcare Innovation in Africa (AHIA) Conference in Johannesburg. AHIA is a multi-phase program that consists of a three-day summer conference and ongoing advice from leading professionals in science, business, and law.

AHIA’s mission is to address and solve unmet medical needs in Africa, by supporting and promoting the advancement of health innovation and technologies. They do so by advising, educating, and training African innovators in the business and legal aspects of the healthcare sector.

At the conference, Innovation Teams consisting of scientists and students are formed for each technology. The Innovation Teams collaborate for the entirety of the conference to create a development plan and tackle some of the most pressing challenges facing African healthcare systems.

After the conference, a limited number of Innovation Teams will be selected to receive ongoing advice to help transition innovations from the laboratory to market. This may involved additional travel to meet with industry professionals or potential investors.

Benefits

  • Travel and hotels will be covered for those selected.
  • At the end of the conference, select scientists will receive ongoing advice to help transition their innovations from laboratory to market.
