NSS Arranges Hire Purchase Package for Service Personnel

Ghana National Service Scheme,  NSS arranges hire purchase package for service personnel.

Management of the National Service Scheme (NSS) has entered into an agreement with Hisense, a subsidiary of Sun Electronics, to supply home appliances to national service personnel at discounted prices.

Dubbed: “Life Starter Package,” the initiative, which will take effect from the 2017/18 service year, will provide an opportunity for service personnel to acquire the appliances and pay in instalment over a 12-month period.

Per the arrangement, NSS personnel who wish to acquire any home appliance, including television sets, gas cookers and tabletop fridges, will be required to enter into agreement with the scheme for the cost of the items to be deducted from their allowances at source.

Launch

A grand launch of the initiative was held at the headquarters of NSS in Accra at which the Executive Director of the scheme, Mr Ussif Mustapha, symbolically received some products from the company to seal the agreement.

The Hisense delegation was led by the Head of Administration of the company, Mrs Sandra Patterson.

Modalities

“NSS persons at post could walk into any Hisense shop in Ghana and show proof that they are service persons, make a request and pay for outright purchase depending on the items or sign onto a 12-month payment by instalment,” Mr Mustapha said.

He said the decision to enter into the partnership with Hisense was in response to the growing concerns by some NSS persons over the lack of basic home appliances to make their stay at places where they had been posted comfortable.

Mr Mustapha gave an assurance that the management of the scheme would continue to take initiatives that would ensure that service personnel had improved conditions at their various user agencies.

Mrs Patterson said Hisense would stick to its part of the agreement, since the NSS was a scheme that contributed immensely to national development.

She encouraged NSS persons to take advantage of the initiative.
