Details of Trade Policy Specialist at FAO Job Vacancy Position & How to Apply.

FAO’s mandate is to raise levels of nutrition, improve agricultural productivity, better the lives of rural populations, and contribute to the growth of the world economy. The Organization provides this kind of assistance to help people and nations help themselves. In a complex world of competing needs, FAO provides a neutral meeting place and the background knowledge needed to reach a consensus.

The Regional Office for Africa (RAF) serves as FAO’s focal point for addressing region-wide food and agriculture issues and maintaining/developing relations with region-wide institutions notably the African Union Commission and the Regional Economic Communities.

RAF leads the organization’s agricultural trade work in sub-Saharan Africa, through the coordination and facilitation of an integrated set of activities to strengthen the capacity of African countries and their RECs to develop trade strategies, design and carry out trade policies and to negotiate trade agreements that will enable them to support the implementation of agricultural and food security strategies and investment plans. RAF supports the implementation of the Malabo Declaration that made clear commitments to Boosting Intra-African Trade in Agricultural Commodities and Services, which have been reinforced recently by the launch of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
