Details of United Nations Population Fund Job Vacancy Position & How to Apply.

Under overall guidance of the Representative and direct supervision of the Programme Specialist , Adolescent and Youth, the Program Assistant supports the program team. The Programme Assistant is responsible for supporting the activities of one or more Programme Specialist in a number of respects, including research, data analysis, logistical support, and field visits.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

Supports the design, planning and management of UNFPA’s country programme by providing and managing technical data inputs, providing logistical support, monitoring project implementation and following up on recommendations.

Applies established systems and procedures and assists in the creation of substantive knowledge by compiling, synthesizing and analyzing information relevant to a specific programme technical area.
Participates in the formulation of the country programme by compiling and analyzing information in the subject areas of UNFPA assistance to the Government and drafting programme proposals and work plans.
Supports routine implementation of assigned programmes; coordinating the delivery of programme inputs and ensuring participation of national counterparts in training activities and study tours.
Evaluates programme activities; establishing and implementing mechanisms to systematically assess the achievement of results by participating field visits, participating in review meetings and preparing regular inputs to status and progress reports.
Provides logistical support to projects by coordinating the organisation of review meetings and other project related workshops and events.
Effectively provides general research support from records, reports and prepares periodic and ad hoc reports on programme and project activities
Contributes to the creation and sharing of knowledge by synthesizing and documenting findings and lessons learned, success stories and best practices, strategies and approaches of the Country Office and drafting relevant materials for dissemination.
Supports the advocacy and resource mobilization strategy of the Country Office by compiling and synthesizing relevant background materials for use in discussions and public events.
When appropriate, undertakes other related duties assigned by the supervisor and/or Representative.
Provides assistance in organizing and conducting donor meetings and public information events.

Qualifications and Experience

Academic Requirements:

Minimum of a university degree in public health, social development, medicine, or other related social science field.

Experience:

3 years of relevant work experience in project management support, research and monitoring/evaluation.
Broad understanding of reproductive health, population, gender, and development issues in Ghana.
Conversant with programme implementation and funding modalities of International organisations, especially the UN system.

Languages:

Fluency in oral and written English.
Knowledge of other official UN languages would be an asset.

Computer Skills:

Proficiency in current office software applications.
Proficiency in Atlas, PeopleSoft, and other computerized applications used by the UN.
