Fircroft Job Positions 2019
The Launch Quality Centre Zone Manager is responsible for driving complex concern resolution and recommendations to ensure that the product is designed for manufacturing and quality issues are solved, in line with project KPIs. They are responsible for management and resolution of complex issues related to the vehicle zone they are responsible for, leading a cross-functional team.
Lead cross-functional zone reviews, managing associated workload and present zone status at project gateways (e.g. DDKM, DKM) and quality events (e.g. Pilothall, PSP, audit) to ensure an agreed plan and timing for issue resolution.
Main Responsibilities
1.Lead resolution of complex quality topics for designated platform(s) zone
a) Interrogate style and design to identify manufacturing feasibility concerns
b) Influence style and design to support Manufacturing functional deliverables i.e. DfM best practice, assembly time targets, product quality targets
c) Analyse dimensional management outputs for complex systems and develop assembly strategies to ensure product quality targets are achieved
d) Lead virtual build reviews to validate process hard points and sequence
e) Assume responsibility for complex concerns; working with customer to fully understand issue and deliver agreed solution
f) Lead cross-functional zone teams to implement solutions, both within and outside of own expertise, co-ordinating necessary resource
g) Ability to demonstrate deliverable status at any time with KPIs
2.Deliver manufacturing statements for project buy off in accordance with PEP (DDKM, DKM etc.)
a) Carry out physical review of the properties in the development phase and raise and resolve manufacturing feasibility issues
b) Track the issues raised through to resolution to ensure a successful launch
c) Identify and deliver properties required to drive feasibility issues to resolution
d) Provide technical support to achieve the resolution of property issues
e) Manage the impact of the property development and deviations from generic PEP timing
3.Lead concern resolution through standardised process
a) Manage zone working list, including prioritisation and capacity for all complex issues relating to zone
b) Clearly define and document concerns/issues via KPM process
c) Establish clear next steps, identifying any cross-functional interdependencies, using Bentley problem solving tools
d) Use status to steer zone reviews
e) Take full responsibility until resolution of concerns within zone
4.Technical responsibility for controlled build activities
a) Validation of complex system feasibility using reference properties.
b) Analysis of complex systems on controlled build vehicles.
c) Knowledge holder for part design, manufacture & assembly within zone
5.Identification and development of best practice principles within group, industry and associated industries.
a) Benchmarking of design, manufacturing and assembly methods within group and VSC
b) Responsible for the development of knowledge though technical literature and industry related research

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Skills & Experience:
Demonstrable automotive industry experience in a role directly related to complex problem solving within a Manufacturing or Engineering Environment (similar experience within associated industries considered)
Practical & Technical Knowledge:
* Expert knowledge of component design, manufacture and assembly techniques
* Expert knowledge of design for manufacturing principles including lean manufacturing techniques
* Clear demonstrable experience of complex problem identification and resolution
* Appreciation of CATIA V5 and Virtual Build tools
* Strong working knowledge of measurement techniques, CATIA V5, Virtual Build tools and dimensional management analysi
